Olivia Culpo elected Miss USA 2012. Advanced Culpo represent Rhode Island got rid of the other contestants thanks to the brave answer when the judge asked about transgender. Contest was held in Las Vegas on Sunday, June 3, 2012.

In the event the contest, Culpo asked, is it fair if a transgender or transsexual won Miss USA compared to other contestants who were born as women.

Culpo, 20, replied, "I think it's fair. But I can understand if people are a little anxious to take that road." He then added, "So many people out there who want to change in order to have a happier life. I accept it because I believe this is a free country."

When listening to the answers Culpo, audience reaction was mixed but look quickly turned to cheers give two thumbs up.

The issue of transgender beauty pageant in a warm discussion after what happened to a contestant Miss Canada, Jenna Talackova. Talackova the competition was a transgender who performed the surgery at the age of 19 years.

Despite having the legal documents to support this as a woman, Talackova was removed from the Miss Canada pageant. But, he again allowed to enter the competition after the owner of the Miss Universe organization, Donald Trump, agreed.
